Hyatt launches online point sharing with a 525,000-point annual cap
Members can now gift existing Hyatt points online, with account-age, monthly and annual limits to check before combining balances.
TL;DR
World of Hyatt launched online member-to-member point gifts on 2026-10-15. Transfers are free, with separate annual sending and receiving caps of 525,000 points and monthly frequency limits.
- Existing points can now be gifted online to another eligible World of Hyatt member.
- Both members need accounts open for at least 60 days; sending and receiving each have monthly and annual limits.
- This changes how Hyatt points are shared between members, not how bank rewards convert into Hyatt points.
What changed
World of Hyatt members can now gift existing points online instead of relying on the old PDF-and-email process. The service went live on 2026-10-15, making it easier to combine balances before booking an award stay.
Hyatt confirms the new digital transfer process on its official points page. The limits below are documented in The Points Guy's October 15 walkthrough, which cites Hyatt's terms and includes an actual transfer test. Review the current program terms before submitting a gift.
The limits that matter
| Category | Published rule | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Annual allowance | Send up to 525,000 points and receive up to 525,000 points per calendar year. | Sending and receiving have separate caps. |
| Frequency | Send once per calendar month, up to 6 times per calendar year; the same limits apply to receiving. | Plan the recipient and amount before using a monthly slot. |
| Account eligibility | Both accounts must be active, in good standing and open for at least 60 days. | A newly created account cannot receive a gift immediately. |
| Amount | Minimum 1,000 points, then increments of 500; member-to-member gifts use a 1:1 ratio. | The recipient gets the same number of points sent. |
| Processing | Generally within 24 hours; additional review can take up to 10 business days. | An instant result reported by another member is not a timing guarantee. |
Who should care
Couples, families and friends combining smaller balances for an award booking have a simpler path. No family or shared-address relationship is required. Hyatt cardholders and members with points already transferred from a bank can use the same process once those points are in their Hyatt account.
This is a transfer between Hyatt members. It does not change a Chase or Bilt conversion ratio, and it does not create a new credit-card statement credit. Keep it separate from the bank-transfer changes covered in our October benefit update.
What to do next
Use the gifting option for points you already own, rather than the separate option to buy points for someone else. Before confirming:
- Start on Hyatt's Purchase & Gift Points page, choose Gift your points and sign in. The gifting flow is hosted through Points.com.
- Check both members' account age and remaining monthly and yearly allowances; do not assume a new account or an unused-looking balance guarantees eligibility.
- Confirm the recipient's first name, last name, email address and World of Hyatt number. Submitted gifts are final.
- Allow processing time before relying on the balance for an award booking. Record the gift date and amount alongside your benefits tracking checklist.

Frequently asked questions
Does the new tool change bank-to-Hyatt transfer ratios?
No. A 1:1 gift moves points already held in a Hyatt account to another member. Bank-to-Hyatt conversions remain subject to the bank and program terms.
Before you act
- Rules and account eligibility can change. Verify the terms displayed in the Hyatt gifting flow before confirming; Perkmon has not accessed or tested a member account.
