October Card Benefit Changes: IHG, Bilt Hyatt, and Amex Business Gold
Chase and IHG launched a premium IHG card, Bilt posted a Hyatt transfer-ratio cut for 2027, and Amex Business Gold replaced FedEx with UPS.com in its monthly business credit.
TL;DR
Three card-benefit updates now need tracker attention: the new IHG Premier Select card, Bilt-to-Hyatt transfers moving to 4:3 on January 1, 2027, and Amex Business Gold shifting its monthly credit from FedEx to UPS.com.
- Three card-benefit updates now need tracker attention: the new IHG Premier Select card, Bilt-to-Hyatt transfers moving to 4:3 on January 1, 2027, and Amex Business Gold shifting its monthly credit from FedEx to UPS.com.
- The biggest keep/cancel decision is the IHG refresh, because annual fees, status, free-night caps, and coupon-style credits now vary by card.
- The cleanest deadline is Bilt Hyatt: the 1:1 transfer ratio is scheduled to end after December 31, 2026.
What changed
Chase and IHG announced a new premium IHG One Rewards Premier Select Credit Card on October 1, 2026, alongside updates across the IHG card portfolio. The new Premier Select card has a $350 annual fee and adds hotel food-and-beverage rewards, airline credit value, a 60,000-point anniversary free night cap, automatic Platinum Elite status, and 20 annual elite night credits.
Bilt also posted a Hyatt transfer notice on its World of Hyatt partner page: beginning January 1, 2027, Bilt Points transfers to World of Hyatt change from 1:1 to 4:3. That makes December 31, 2026 the practical last day to use the old ratio, assuming the posted Bilt notice remains unchanged.
American Express Business Gold has a smaller but immediate merchant change. The Flexible Business Credit now centers on eligible U.S. purchases at Grubhub, U.S. office supply stores, and shipments at UPS.com. FedEx remained listed in some older Amex terms as eligible only through October 1, 2026, so treat FedEx as a cutoff item, not a current merchant.
Key details to check
| Category | Confirmed detail | What to track |
|---|---|---|
| IHG Premier Select | New $350 Chase-issued card; Chase card page shows up to $300 in annual IHG Food and Beverage Rewards, a $200 airline statement credit on at least $250 in direct airline purchases through 12/31/27, a 60,000-point anniversary free night cap, automatic Platinum Elite status, 20 annual elite night credits, complimentary DashPass, monthly DoorDash non-restaurant promo, monthly Instacart credit, and up to $50 United TravelBank Cash. | Card-specific annual fee, enrollment/registration steps, quarterly or monthly credit cadence, free-night cap, elite-night timing, and whether an existing IHG card gets the same benefit. |
| Existing IHG cards | Chase and IHG say the existing portfolio is also changing. IHG says existing cardmembers will be notified in October with effective dates for their updates. | Do not assume every new-card benefit applies to legacy Premier, One Rewards, or Business cardholders on the same date. Track card name, old vs. new fee, status level, free-night cap, and 4th-night-free rules separately. |
| Bilt to World of Hyatt | Bilt's Hyatt partner page says transfers change from 1:1 to 4:3 beginning January 1, 2027. | Add a December 31, 2026 review date for anyone who values Bilt mainly for Hyatt. Check award availability before speculatively transferring because transfers are generally irreversible. |
| Amex Business Gold | The $240 Flexible Business Credit is up to $20 per month after enrollment. The current merchant path to track is Grubhub, U.S. office supply stores, and shipments at UPS.com. | Replace FedEx with UPS.com after the October 1, 2026 cutoff, and do not generalize UPS.com shipments to every UPS or third-party purchase path without account terms. |
These changes are easy to mis-track because each one has a different date, cap, or merchant rule.
Who should care
IHG cardholders should read the Chase or IHG notice before making an annual-fee decision. The new card adds more headline value, but much of it is split into hotel food-and-beverage rewards, airline statement-credit mechanics, DoorDash and Instacart credits, and status or elite-night rules.
Bilt users who transfer to Hyatt have a clearer decision: whether to move points before 2027. The 4:3 ratio means the same Hyatt redemption will require more Bilt points after the change. Do not transfer just because of the deadline if you do not have a real Hyatt redemption path.
Amex Business Gold cardholders should update monthly-credit habits now. If your workflow still routes the credit to FedEx after October 1, check current Amex terms before counting that purchase.
What to do next
- If you hold an IHG card, wait for the October issuer notice before changing a tracker field for your specific account.
- For IHG Premier Select, track each coupon separately: IHG food and beverage, airline credit, DoorDash, Instacart, United TravelBank, anniversary free night, and elite-night credits.
- If you use Bilt for Hyatt, review likely 2027 Hyatt stays before December 31, 2026 instead of making a blind transfer.
- If you hold Amex Business Gold, update your monthly credit merchant list and save the current terms that show UPS.com eligibility.
- Keep issuer/program terms as the source of truth; media and Reddit are useful heat signals, not account-specific eligibility proof.
