Chase IHG terms drop the shared elite-night cap; multi-card stacking needs account checks
Current Premier Select, Premier and Business pages list separate annual elite-night awards, while reporting says the earlier anti-stacking wording was an error.
TL;DR
Current Chase application pages list 20 annual Elite Night Credits for IHG Premier Select and 15 each for Premier and Business, without the earlier shared-cap sentence. Frequent Miler reports that Chase confirmed stacking. Check your exact accounts and effective dates before relying on a combined total.
- Current public terms describe each card’s annual award and count those credits toward status and Milestone Rewards.
- The claim that the old anti-stacking language was an error comes from media reporting attributed to a Chase representative.
- An application-page correction does not prove every existing account has already received the new credits.
What changed
Chase’s current IHG Premier Select application terms no longer include the sentence that previously limited annual cardmembership Elite Night Credits across linked IHG cards. Current Premier and Business pages also list their own annual awards without that shared-cap wording. Perkmon checked these public pages on 2026-10-16.
Frequent Miler reported on October 13, 2026 that a Chase representative confirmed multi-card credits can stack and that the original application wording was incorrect. That is useful attributed reporting, alongside the directly observable public terms. It is not a promise that every account combination has already been tested.
Key details
| Category | Automatic Elite Night Credits | Published delivery timing |
|---|---|---|
| IHG One Rewards Premier Select | 20 credits | New account: within 6–8 weeks; thereafter by February 1 each calendar year |
| IHG One Rewards Premier | 15 credits | New account: within 6–8 weeks; thereafter by February 1 each calendar year |
| IHG One Rewards Business | 15 credits | New account: within 6–8 weeks; thereafter by February 1 each calendar year |
These are the automatic awards described on current application pages. Spending-earned credits are separate and are not included in this table.
Who should care
Cardholders with more than one eligible IHG card may have a shorter path to a status tier or Milestone Reward. The official terms say these Elite Night Credits count for both. A qualifying-night award is still different from complimentary status supplied by a card, a spending bonus or a free-night certificate.
The current pages describe new-account awards and subsequent annual delivery. Existing accounts may have transition dates in their own notices. Frequent Miler says existing-card awards begin in 2027 and reports readers seeing older wording in other entry points. Do not assume missing credits today prove stacking is unavailable, or that a corrected public page means an immediate deposit.
What to do next
Use only the benefits and dates applicable to cards you actually hold when estimating a combined total. Do not assume that multiple copies of the same product can be opened, upgraded or stacked simply because a theoretical calculation reaches a desired tier. Fees and usable hotel benefits still determine whether another card makes sense.
- Match every card to the same active IHG membership number and verify the applicable account notice.
- Record the automatic award and its expected delivery date for each account separately.
- Keep automatic credits, spending-earned credits, actual hotel nights and free-night certificates in separate tracking categories.
- If account terms still conflict, obtain clarification from Chase or IHG before paying for an upgrade or redirecting spending.

Primary sources are the current Chase application terms below. The stacking explanation and transition discussion are attributed to Frequent Miler; the former shared-cap wording should not be used as the current rule for every card.

Before you act
- Published application terms and media-attributed clarification do not verify an individual account’s eligibility or posting. Confirm account-specific transition terms before acting.
