Reports: some Credit Karma Gold Card offers waive Robinhood Gold
Targeted invitations reportedly remove the subscription requirement, while Robinhood’s public FAQ still requires Gold membership.
TL;DR
Some Credit Karma users report Robinhood Gold Card invitations without a Gold subscription requirement. Doctor of Credit highlighted the offer on October 15, 2026, but Robinhood’s public FAQ still requires an annual Gold subscription. Check your exact invitation before treating the card as subscription-free.
- The reported exception is targeted; finding the card on Credit Karma does not establish eligibility for a waiver.
- A card with no annual fee and a card with no Gold subscription requirement are different offers.
- The reviewed public sources do not establish a universal waiver, its duration, or an existing-card conversion path.
What is being reported
Doctor of Credit reported on October 15, 2026 that some Credit Karma applicants could obtain the Robinhood Gold Card without a Robinhood Gold membership. A recent user discussion includes an invitation screenshot and reports of the subscription requirement being waived.
These reports describe a targeted offer, not a confirmed change to the card’s general eligibility. Robinhood’s public getting-started FAQ still says an annual Gold subscription is required and describes charging it after the cardholder agreement is accepted. We have not verified the full terms of a targeted invitation.
Separate the standard terms from the reported exception
| Category | Public standard terms | Reported Credit Karma invitation |
|---|---|---|
| Gold subscription | The official FAQ requires an annual Gold subscription. | Some recipients report that this requirement is waived. |
| Who qualifies | The public FAQ describes the standard application experience. | The report is targeted; not everyone sees the same invitation. |
| Unsettled details | The FAQ does not explain a Credit Karma exception. | Waiver duration, full conditions and conversion for existing holders remain unverified. |
Use the offer-specific disclosures to resolve the difference. A headline saying “no annual fee” does not, by itself, remove a separate subscription charge.
Who should care
This matters if the subscription cost was the reason you passed on the card, or if you already pay for Gold mainly to hold it. An applicant-specific waiver could change that calculation. It does not show that existing cardholders can cancel Gold while keeping their card, nor that the invitation includes the subscription’s separate brokerage benefits.
What to check before accepting
Subscription treatment is only one part of the cost. The current public Gold Card fee schedule also lists a 3% foreign transaction fee on purchases made in a foreign currency. Review the schedule attached to your own offer rather than assuming every fee is waived.
- Look for explicit wording removing the Gold subscription requirement, not only a no-annual-fee headline.
- Save the invitation and final disclosures, including any waiver duration or renewal conditions.
- Check card fees and rewards terms separately from Gold subscription benefits.
- If you already have the card, obtain account-specific confirmation before changing or canceling Gold.
