What changed
Delta and American Express announced on June 4, 2026 that eligible Delta SkyMiles Amex cardmembers are getting more travel benefits without an annual fee increase. The headline change for benefit tracking is a complimentary second checked bag on domestic Delta-operated flights for Basic Card Members with eligible Delta SkyMiles Gold, Platinum, and Reserve consumer and business cards.
Delta's own baggage page now reflects the update. It says Basic Card Members can check a second bag free on domestic Delta flights starting June 4, 2026, while the existing first checked bag benefit continues to work for eligible cardmembers and qualifying companions on the reservation.
Who should care
This matters most if you keep a Delta SkyMiles Gold, Gold Business, Platinum, Platinum Business, Reserve, or Reserve Business Amex mainly for travel-day savings. A second domestic bag can be meaningful for families, longer trips, work travel, or anyone who previously paid for the second checked bag.
There are limits worth tracking. Delta says the second checked bag waiver is for Basic Card Members, not Additional Card Members. It applies once per eligible card per direction of travel on a qualifying domestic itinerary. Domestic means travel whose origin and destination are within the U.S. 48 states, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Delta also says codeshare flights are not eligible, and overweight or oversize bag charges can still apply.
Gold cards also get a rideshare credit
Delta's announcement also says enrolled Delta SkyMiles Gold and Gold Business Card Members will have access to a $120 annual rideshare credit after card renewal. The credit is described as up to $10 in monthly statement credits on eligible U.S. rideshare purchases with select providers.
For Perkmon users, that is a separate tracking item from the baggage update. The baggage benefit is travel-day eligibility logic. The rideshare credit is a monthly statement-credit workflow after renewal, so it should be tracked with cadence, eligible purchases, and posted-credit status.
What to do next
If you have one of the affected Delta SkyMiles Amex cards, update your tracker before the next Delta trip. Add the second checked bag benefit, note the domestic Delta-operated restriction, and keep the companion limitation visible so you do not overestimate the value.
If you have a Delta SkyMiles Gold or Gold Business card, also check whether the rideshare credit is active after your renewal. Treat each monthly credit as pending until it actually posts.
