Frequently asked questions
- How does the Bilt 2.0 calculator estimate points on rent?
- In Housing-only mode, everyday spend of at least 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of your housing payment earns 0.5x, 0.75x, 1x or 1.25x housing points respectively. Below 25%, an eligible housing payment earns 250 points. Flexible Bilt Cash mode earns 4% Bilt Cash on eligible everyday spend; each $3 redeemed unlocks 100 housing points, up to 1x on your payment. The calculator compares both modes.
- What is Bilt Cash and how is it different from Bilt Points?
- Bilt Cash can fund eligible merchant credits or unlock points and offers. It cannot be withdrawn as cash, and using it to unlock housing points does not reduce your housing bill. Bilt Points can be transferred to participating travel partners. Redeem ranks alternatives using the cash each option can actually consume, with remaining balances shown separately.
- How much is a Bilt Point worth?
- Point value depends on your redemption. The editable default of 1.55 cents per point is an estimate, not a guaranteed cash redemption rate. Change it to reflect the awards you expect to book.
- Which Bilt 2.0 card should I choose?
- Blue has no annual fee and earns 1x on eligible everyday purchases. Obsidian costs $95 and earns 3x on dining or groceries, with a $25,000 annual cap on 3x groceries, plus 2x eligible direct travel. Palladium costs $495 and earns 2x on eligible everyday purchases. Earn compares estimated net value after annual fees, cash redemptions and the credits you expect to use. Partner and portal bonuses are outside this estimate.
- What timing and benefit assumptions does the annual estimate use?
- The model uses January through December with twelve equal spending months, one rewards mode and no opening balances. Palladium’s $200 annual Bilt Cash arrives in January. Housing is paid after that month’s ordinary spending posts; $50 milestone cash per 25,000 qualifying points becomes usable the next month. Optional accelerators use cash already available before future purchases. Hotel credits start at $0; welcome cash and temporary promotions are excluded. Unused cash is not added to net value, and up to $100 can roll into the following year.
